Bhigwan Bird sanctuary Club ride of February 2024 turns out to be an impromptu ride for me. We (my wife & I) originally in goa were returning back – when we realized that the club ride was fixed at Bhigwan Bird Sanctuary just off Pune – we thought what the heck?! we anyways wanted to break the ride from Goa back into 2 days ride, so the joining the club on its February ride made perfect sense.
Starting the journey as early as 5.30 am the ride back from Goa was awesome till Kolhapur that is- after the roads went downhill- with constant road construction work right up to Karad. To look back sometimes google maps is not the best bet, it may sure give you the fastest route – but doesn’t mean it will be the comfiest route.

Packing 10 heavy riders on flat bottom motorboat and motoring it through swampy waters is not easy task but our boatman being an expert was able to guide us through the different part of the Bhigwan waterbody to observe the different migratory birds that had come to shelter in this vast water body
Post our boat ride- we went booze hunting – I paired up with our one and only Scientist – which chose 3 different types of alcohol to have for the night –
Our usual evening celebrations started at 7.30- despite being a mid-February ride- it was quite cold once the sun set- we huddled with our drinks in hand and our evening festivities began – with our standard NGFF followed by dinner and drinks.
It was too cold to stay out late – we packed it in by 11 pm and were off to bed for an early ride back home.
With a hearty breakfast – we loaded up all 18-20 riders and headed back to Thumperland – the only difference was that this time I wasn’t alone, I rode back home with my riding brothers at my back
